Meeting call to order at 1005 by chair JD

Group introductions were made

December meeting minutes we reviewed and approved

JD talked and explained Tier 2 reports

The Hesston shooting speaker (Gary Denny) is rescheduled for April 10

As of March 1 the sirens will only be set of for tornados only no more noon or fire sounding

Round table

Mick our fire season is here and it is very dry out working with NWS on giving weather and wind predictions for burn bans

EKAE ethanol side scheduled outage may 7 

Southern star – coming bearing gifts and remind every to call 811 before you dig

Sheriff Vern – talk about cell phones and GPS and the 911 texting

Chief Tate mentioned of new firefighters and talked about open burning and burn bans

EMS talked about stop bleeding classes

Undersheriff Wes talked about taking keys out of vehicles and about teaching to employee’s active shooter class.

Trent talked about the upcoming 100 mile run on the trails.

Mike Thweatt said that we have a new Lt. for our area and that we should have a new trooper for our area from the current class

City of Garnett go kart races April 13

Meg with united way talked about how $22,000 was raised for Anderson county United Way through 2 companies who participants in the employee donation program.

JD and Meg talked about the volunteer pool of needed more volunteers.  March 24 will be a meeting at the community bldg from different organization to recruit people to help

Meeting shifted to drills and training

JD stated that to think up exercises that other entities may have gaps that can be helped.

 He stated he needs everyone’s help with input and objectives. 

The hospital and park view heights has to have a full blown community involved drill every year.
